Successful Nomination for the Australian Marketing Institute State Advisory Committee

By News No Comments

The Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) is the peak organisation representing the marketing profession and sector within Australia. As a strategic marketing agency, we value the role of the Australian Marketing Institute and have supported the organisation through our corporate membership and event participation.

I have often commented that the profession needs to clearly define its role in delivering successful business or organisational outcomes. While most people have a clear understanding of the outcomes that accountants and lawyers provide, there is a general lack of clarity around marketing and what it delivers.

I believe the best way to influence this discussion is to be part of the decision making processes within the Australian Marketing Institute. I nominated for the Victorian State Advisory Council and have been informed that this nomination has been successful.

The Australian Marketing Institute has undertaken significant governance reforms and it should be an exciting time to be part of the Victorian State Advisory Council.

VECCI Fast Forward – August 2013 Speed Networking

By Advice, Advice for Businesses, News No Comments

VECCI is the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce, representing businesses in Victoria. Syneka Marketing has been a corporate member of VECCI for several years, due to benefits such as networking opportunities, factsheets and policy templates.

This evening myself and Natalia Perera attended VECCI Fast Forward, a speed networking event designed to enable two people to discuss their businesses in 60 seconds each. The aim of speed networking is not to provide in-depth discussion, but to enable people to quickly introduce their business and potential opportunities for cooperation.

Myself and Natalia met over 60 people over the course of the speed networking session, providing a great opportunity to meet businesses located across Melbourne. Syneka Marketing is a unique marketing agency, because of our focus on strategy, which ensures we can deliver tangible results for businesses.

We look forward to working with several of the businesses we met to assist them in their strategic, creative and digital marketing needs.

Australian Marketing Institute – Networking Event

By Advice for Businesses No Comments

The Australian Marketing Institute is the peak body representing the marketers and the industry across Australia.

As a corporate member, Syneka Marketing through its Directors Alex Makin and Natalia, are regular attendees of Australian Marketing Institute functions.

Tonight’s function was held in Richmond and provided a general networking opportunity to meet other members.

The AMI membership comprises of a mix of marketers, business coaches, advertising agencies and other consultants. One of the surprises we have with their members is the ongoing failure to actively engage the not-for-profit sector.

Syneka Marketing stands alone as the the only agency that engages the not-for-profit sector. We’re proud of our work in the not-for-profit sector, which has led to higher marketing standards and ongoing growth for organisations.

We hope to encourage the Australian Marketing Institute and its members to better understand the sector and initiate ongoing discussions around the importance of marketing for not-for-profit organisations.

The more discussion we can generate about the marketing needs of not-for-profit organisations, the more we can ensure that the sector actively engages marketing and sees its value.

Australian Marketing Institute – End of Year Function

By Advice, Advice for Businesses, Advice for Not-for-profit Organisations and Charities No Comments

The Australian Marketing Institute is the peak body representing marketing within Australia. Syneka Marketing is a corporate member of the AMI and this evening Natalia Perera and I went to their end of year function.

The Australian Marketing Institute has launched a new vision, which hopefully will streamline governance arrangements and better position the organisation as a peak body. As a membership based organisation, the Australian Marketing Institute needs to demonstrate value to members.

One of the challenges we see, is the need to demonstrate the value of marketing as a profession. There is a need to distinguish between professional marketers and those that diminish the word ‘marketing’ without providing a cohesive strategy or promoting quick wins without considering the long-term success of a business.

The Australian Marketing Institute should define marketing and utilize this to provide value in being part of the organisation. The AMI needs to represent the interests of marketing and advocate its value to policymakers, the media and the wider community.

I’m on the Communications Subcommittee for 2013 and am looking forward to promoting the Australian Marketing Institute and its objectives.
