I have always had a passion for human rights. Having the opportunity to lead a group, that is focused on advocating for human rights has always been a dream of mine.
A few weeks ago, I became the Co-Convener of the Amnesty International Melbourne Metro Group.
Our group represents inner Melbourne and includes the Melbourne CBD.
Our Amnesty group is quite diverse, however, the one thing that we have in common is a genuine passion for human rights.
Since the start of the year, I have been actively involved in the Melbourne Metro Group. Most of my time with this group, has been spent working on a campaign to advocate for women’s rights in Afghanistan; which has been a focus of Amnesty International Australia.
The Melbourne Metro Group is currently going through a Strategic Planning process to ensure it remains both sustainable and viable.
As Co-Convener I have been actively involved in this process.
At our last meeting I facilitated a session where our group devised a Mission and Vision statement.
I was very impressed by the fact that the group was able to do this within two hours!
Our next meeting will look at the strategies the group can use to achieve its Vision and Mission.
I feel fortunate that I have been able to use my knowledge in Marketing and Communications to help this group reach its full potential.
