This afternoon Natalia and myself attended the annual general meeting of the Victorian branch of Amnesty International Australia. We’ve both been participating in the Melbourne Metro Group, where Natalia led the planning for a movie night to discuss the plight of women in Afghanistan.
Today’s annual general meeting included workshops to discuss Amnesty’s campaigns and to learn about upcoming priorities. The formal Annual General Meeting elected office bearers and branch committee members for the following year.
I was elected onto the Victorian Branch of Amnesty International Australia, where I hope to offer my governance and marketing experience. The Victorian branch works in conjunction with local groups to advance Amnesty’s focus on human rights and I’m looking forward to being involved in the governance of the organisation.
