Eastern Volunteers is a not-for-profit organisation that provides volunteer recruitment and community assisted transport. One of the organisation’s aims is to strengthen volunteering and the Business Booster Breakfasts help achieve this by highlighting the partnerships that can be developed with businesses.
The breakfasts include a speaker that discusses business and community issues, designed to explore examples of cooperation between the two sectors.
I have been serving as the MC for each of the breakfasts and this morning I introduced Tarnya McKenzie from Yarra Valley Water. Tarnya discussed how Yarra Valley Water has worked with Eastern Volunteers through its Corporate Volunteering Program and Annual Fun Run. She also shared Yarra Valley Water’s efforts on water conservation and new initiatives to assist businesses in monitoring their water usage.
The partnership between Yarra Valley Water and Eastern Volunteers provides an example of how the two sectors can work together. Eastern Volunteers assists in organising Yarra Valley Water’s Community Volunteering Program and Yarra Valley Water has supported events such as the Annual Fun Run. The Business Booster are held regularly throughout the year and provide a unique opportunity connect businesses and community organisations.
